INOX Air Products Pvt. Ltd. (INOXAP) is a 50:50 joint venture company of INOX Group of India and Air Products Inc., USA[1]. Headquartered in Mumbai, INOXAP is one of the largest manufacturers of medical and industrial gases in India with 44 plants across the country[2]. The company was founded in 1963 by the Jain Family as Industrial Oxygen Company Ltd. in Pune, Maharashtra[3].

In 1999, Air Products & Chemicals Inc., USA acquired a 50 percent equity stake in Industrial Oxygen Company Ltd., giving birth to INOX Air Products. The venture remains one of the longest Indo-American joint ventures in the manufacturing sector in India[4].

INOX Group

INOX Air Products is part of the INOX Group of Companies, a diversified Indian conglomerate with interests in various businesses including Industrial Gases, Chemicals, Cryogenic Engineering, LNG Storage & Distribution Equipment, Renewable Energy and Entertainment. INOX Group has signed a sponsorship agreement to support Team India at The Olympic Games 2020 in Tokyo, Japan[5]. The Group employs more than 10,000+ individuals at 150+ business units across India and has a distribution network spread across 50 different countries. The INOX Group of Companies[6] besides INOX Air Products, includes INOX Wind Limited, Gujarat Fluorochemicals Limited, INOX India Limited, INOX Renewables Limited, and INOX Leisure Limited.

Manufacturing Facilities

INOX Air Products offers a unique portfolio of gases, equipment, and services through a massive manufacturing capacity of 3300 TPD of liquid gases delivered from 44 operating locations.

In West Bengal, INOXAP has the largest storage capacity of 1,000 tonnes and the widest distribution infrastructure. The company has been supplying medical Oxygen to hospitals in the state using its fleet of 54 specialized cryogenic tankers with a total trunking capacity of 380,000 liters of Oxygen[7].

On 8 October 2020, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, Shri Yogi Adityanath inaugurated INOX Air Products’ new state-of-the-art Ultra-High Purity Cryogenic Oxygen Plant in Modinagar town in Ghaziabad district of Uttar Pradesh[8].

In 2017, Air Products set up an industrial gases plant within the Integrated Refinery Expansion Project (IREP) of the Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL)’s Kochi Refinery with an investment of $400 million[9].

In February 2009, INOX Air Products commissioned its new Air Separation Unit for Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) Bokaro, India[10].

Expansion Plans

In May 2018, INOX Air Products announced an investment of $100 million to set up six Air Separation Units in[11]:

  • Chakan, Pune
  • Durgapur, West Bengal
  • Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu
  • Simej, Gujrat
  • Modinagar, Uttar Pradesh
  • Kanjikode, Kerala
