Actinoscirpus is a monospecific genus in the family Cyperaceae which contains only the species Actinoscirpus grossus.[1] It is found across East and South Asia.

This plant is growing near the water source. having 3 to 5 feet height growing stem with triangular shape they have grass like leaves, often brown the fruits are small brownish colour, the rhizomes are blackish coloured outside having hair like structure inside the rhizome it is white colour, seewt in taste and pleasant odor.
