Career
Riordan attended Canisius High School in Buffalo, New York, and Allegheny College where he played college baseball. After a 7-year independent league playing career, he spent 14 years managing in the Frontier League and the Northern League, both independent leagues.
In late 2014, Riordan joined the Oakland Athletics organization and was hired to be the manager of their Class A affiliate, the Beloit Snappers, for the 2015 season.[1]
In November 2016, Riordan was named the manager of Oakland's Double-A affiliate, the Midland RockHounds.[2] He led the RockHounds to their fourth straight Texas League title.
In December 2017, it was announced that Riordan would be the manager of Oakland's Triple-A affiliate, the Nashville Sounds, for the 2018 season.[3] After the 2018 season, the Athletics switched their Triple-A affiliate to the Las Vegas Aviators. In 2019, Riordan led the Aviators to an 83–57 record. He was named the Pacific Coast League Manager of the Year.[4]
Riordan did not manage in 2020 because of the cancellation of the minor league season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.[5]
