I wonder if open and closed communities are more or less the same idea as that of closure of communities - see [1]. Specifically I wonder if we could define open communities as 'easy to enter', and closed as 'difficult to enter' by outsiders. This concept which is defined only in [2] is a very narrow version of what the concept has become.
