Geoff Crowther

Geoff Crowther (1944-2021) was a British travel writer who wrote for Lonely Planet and BIT.[1]

In April 2021, he died at the age of 77 in South East Queensland, Australia.[2]

Early life and career

Born in 1944, in Halifax, Yorkshire, England, he studied biochemistry at Liverpool University.[3][4] Soon he lost interest in the field he studied because he was more interested in travel.[5]

In 1972, he starting giving recommendations and made some hand-drawn maps for an alternative publisher, BIT, in London.[6][7][8]

In 1977, he joined Lonely Planet.[9]
