Requested username:

Request reason:

Hi there, I'm an employee of Virgin EMI Records (Astrid Bulmer, my email is astrid.bulmer@umusic.com if you'd like to email me to verify this). I've been blocked for uploading an image of Ella Eyre to her page. This label has the rights to that image. The photo is credited to Joseph Okpako. Please can you unblock me and let the image sit on Ella's wiki page? It's important that her page is as up-to-date as possible and an accurate reflection of her. Thanks, Astrid Bulmer

Decline reason:

Please use your other account, this one won't be unblocked because the username is not compliant with policy. If there is an autoblock, please let us know on User talk:Astrid Bulmer. MER-C 12:21, 29 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Kiesza

[edit]

Hello, it appears Virgin EMI (talk · contribs) is a sock puppet of Astrid Bulmer (talk · contribs). Both have attempted to put File:Kiesza2014.jpg into Kiesza. Astrid Bulmer (talk · contribs) did it first, uploading as "Astrid Bulmer" (on Commons), but identifying the author as "Virgin EMI". I nominated it for deletion, and pointed at this peculiarity. Now, a brand new account "Virgin EMI" is used to accomplish the same thing. Both accounts are single-purpose accounts. As I've said before, if you wish to improve the article, please discuss the matter. If you keep making new accounts, or repeatedly try to add copyright violations to Wikipedia, your accounts could all be blocked. It's worth noting Kiesza is not signed to EMI, has no connection to EMI, and it's baffling why somebody would pick that as a user name. --Rob (talk) 15:30, 26 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Your account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia because it appears to be mainly intended for publicity and/or promotional purposes. If you intend to edit constructively in other topic areas, you may be granted the right to continue under a change of username. Please read the following carefully.
Why can't I edit Wikipedia?

Your account's edits and/or username indicate that it is being used on behalf of a company, group, website or organization for purposes of promotion and/or publicity. The edits may have violated one or more of our rules on spamming, which include: adding inappropriate external links, posting advertisements and using Wikipedia for promotion. Wikipedia has many articles on companies, groups, and organizations, but such groups are generally discouraged from using Wikipedia to write about themselves. In addition, usernames like yours are disallowed under our username policy.

Am I allowed to make these edits if I change my username?

Probably not, although if you can demonstrate a pattern of future editing in strict accordance with our neutral point of view policy, you may be granted this right. See Wikipedia's FAQ for Organizations for a helpful list of frequently asked questions by people in your position. Also, review the conflict of interest guidance to see the kinds of limitations you would have to obey if you did want to continue editing about your company, group, organization, or clients. If this does not fit in with your goals, then you will not be allowed to edit Wikipedia again.

What can I do now?

If you have no interest in writing about some other topic than your organization, group, company, or product, you may consider using one of the many websites that allow this instead.

If you do intend to make useful contributions here about some other topic, you must convince a Wikipedia administrator that you mean it. To that end, please do the following:

  • Add the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} on your user talk page.
  • Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:Listusers to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy.
  • Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must:
    • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the edits for which you were blocked.
    • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} below, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first.

Hi, Kiesza's signed to Virgin EMI Records (a division of Universal Music). Astrid Bulmer (me) has set up both accounts and tried to upload this image. I work for Virgin EMI Records in the digital department and am trying to change Kieasza's image on wiki so it's more up-to-date. Would you like my email to verify that I'm an employee of Virgin EMI? I'd appreciate if we could resolve this asap as it's important to us that Kiesza's wiki page is as fresh as it can possibly be

Thanks --User:Virgin EMI (talk) 16:90, 26 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

To avoid giving out your email publicly, you can visit my user page at User:Thivierr and click "Email this user". Before that, you should go to preferences to ensure your email is setup properly, to send and receive email through Wikipedia. I'll then email you directly, to confirm you're with EMI. It's important to keep in mind that once released on a Creative Commons Share-Alike license, anybody can use the image for any purpose. Also, it's up to the editors of Kiesza, and I can't personally guarantee which image is used (I personally like the image you provided, but it's just one man's opinion). You may want to see if you have a second image, such as one of her performing, and/or less "touched up", that would also be appreciated by editors. Please understand, that while we welcome your input, no single person, or company, can decide the content of the article, and ultimately the community will decide what if any changes are made to the article. --Rob (talk) 17:06, 26 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I'm convinced this user is legit, and works with who he says he does. I base this on an email he sent, verifying his association with the company. So, I withdraw my comments, and suggest we use the image. --Rob (talk) 19:23, 26 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
