Ashleigh Barty was the defending champion from when the event was last held in 2019, but withdrew to prioritize her recovery and prepare for the upcoming season.[1]
Aryna Sabalenka, Barbora Krejčíková, Maria Sakkari, Iga Świątek, Paula Badosa, and Anett Kontaveit are all making their debuts at the event, although Sabalenka and Krejčíková had both previously competed in doubles.[2]
