Problems with article, December 2021.

Article states he is promoted to colonel from brigadier general on 'october 9'. A year is never mentioned NOR a source is given. Furthermore, a COLONEL IS BELOW A BRIGADIER GENERAL. As a Brigadier General leads a BRIGADE and a Colonel a REGIMENT. So that would be a DEMOTION!

In fact, according to order no. 106, december 5 1861, he was supposed to be promoted from Lieutenant Colonel of the 9th US Infantry Regiment to Colonel of the 4th US Infantry Regiment on october 9, 1861. Source, General Orders Vol II: https://archive.org/details/generalordersofwunit

HOWEVER, in that same order, before his promotion, it was put out that 'Lieutenant Colonel Silas Casey of the Ninth regiment' to be promoted to Brigadier General on 31st of August.

So in fact he had NEVER BEEN a Colonel in his life and was promoted from Lt.Col straight to Brigadier General.

Next up it is mentioned he is promoted to major general 'of volunteers'? on july 27th. I checked the source and it doesn't even mention his name. And once a again a year isn't given.

I looked it up and in general order no. 316 (september 18, 1863) 'Brigadier General Silas Casey' is to be a Major General, the date of promotion is May 31 of 1862. General Orders Vol I: https://archive.org/details/generalordersofw00unit

Mind you, these orders are collections of promotions that had been approved up until that point. So the order date is always later than the actual promotions.

If anyone cares they should check all the sources on this article because I feel it is poorly researched. And please include the corrections I listed here, thanks!
