Jyte is a consumer website created by JanRain, a software company located in Portland, Oregon. According to the developers, Jyte allows users to "make claims about [themselves], others, or just about anything" [1]. Other users can then vote up (agree with) or vote down (disagree with) with each claim. Jyte is also an experiment in online credibility management; it lets users assign "cred" points to each other in areas of alleged expertise. This increases their "cred score", which is designed to give an idea of how trustworthy they are. [2]

Created in late January 2007, Jyte is an acronym for "Just You Tell 'Em" [3]. The site was developed primarily with Ruby on Rails, and is interoperable with other sites by means of several APIs [4].

Jyte is notable for relying solely on OpenID for logging in and registering their users.
