Malformed request

[edit]

Feb 23, 2022, 13:05 - «rvt malformed SPI»

@Sro23: Malformed? Am I missing something? --AXONOV (talk) 21:08, 23 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
SPI reports must be structured in a specific way. Your report was a mess. If you want to file reports, you must either follow the instructions on the main SPI page or use Twinkle. Don't wing it.--Bbb23 (talk) 21:35, 23 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Well I don't see any instructions at WP:SPI on formatting of SPI requests. The same goes for WP:BKFIP. AXONOV (talk) 21:42, 23 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
 Clerk note: @Alexander Davronov: The instructions appear in the box titled "How to open an investigation:". Click "[show]" to the right of the box and follow the instructions that appear. -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (she/they) 21:45, 23 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Have used twinkle for that here: Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/82.132.215.54. Thanks. AXONOV (talk) 21:48, 23 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I deleted it. It wasn't even close to right.--Bbb23 (talk) 21:53, 23 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, I'd already section-moved it here. As to this, I think that's an issue with spihelper caused by the change to {{SPI report}}. I actually have been working on a patch for that but haven't had the time to test it yet and put in a PR. -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (she/they) 21:57, 23 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Generally, you lose me when you start talking about templates. Is it new? Changed? What's it used for? You don't have to answer if you don't wish to; I'm okay for the moment being ignorant.--Bbb23 (talk) 22:26, 23 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Bbb23: Basically, {{subst:SPI report}} (which is what's used to generate a new report) used to list all the accounts like this:
But now it puts them all into one {{socklist}} template, like {{socklist|1=Example|2=8.8.8.8|tools_link=yes}}, which a) is a bit easier on the eyes and b) means that if more accounts are added to the list, those interaction links will be updated. However, there's some growing pains here, and it's possible that spihelper is the reason the account and IP were duplicated... Except Twinkle still uses the old method, so on second thought maybe this isn't related to any of what I just said. -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (she/they) 01:25, 24 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I really truly feel like the instructions on Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations under "How to open an investigation" couldn't be any more easy. Tamzin and Bbb23 were kind enough to fix the SPI for you. Sro23 (talk) 23:02, 23 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
