The Nashville Zoo was an zoological garden located in Joelton, Tennessee, which is 17.52 miles (28.20 km) northwest of downtown Nashville. It was open between 1991 and 1998, and closed so the zoo administration could focus all their efforts on the Grassmere location, which opened in May 1997. The property has remained abandoned since the closing of the zoo. Recent efforts have been made to convert the property to a safari park.[1]
