49 Days (Buddhism)

49 Days is a tradition shared among various regional sects of Buddhism whereby the friends and family of a loved one temporarily participate in vegetarianism for 49 days in honor of said loved one passing away. Other rituals or prayers may also be conducted during this time.[1][2]
