Castle Donington is a village with a population of around 7000 in the North West of Leicestershire, close to Derby and Nottingham and on the edge of the National Forest. It is the closest town to East Midlands Airport and DHL which are major employers. It's also home to Donington Park motor racing circuit.

Donington Park has been the venue for Heavy metal festivals such as Download, the Ozzfest and Monsters of Rock since the early 1980s. It also hosted a Formula One Grand Prix in the early 90's.

Castle Donington also had its own power station operated by Powergen. However, this was demolished in 1996.

Castle Donington also has two primary schools, St Edwards and Orchard Primary School as well as a high school, taking students from ages 10-14.

The village of Castle Donington also holds a fair, known locally as the wakes, around the end of October every year.
