It's a very good article, pointing out a few items I had missed and failed to link together, but one thing I found wrong was the note at the end of it, saying Mat had only gained the memories of a single man, King Aemon of Manetheran. While it is speculated by a character early in the story that Mat may be a descendant of Aemon, on page 81 of book five, The Fires of Heaven, it says "He could remember dying more times than he wanted to think of."

Read it again. It says prior to Rhuidean he only had the memories of a single man. The holes in his mind weren't filled in with the memories of other men until after he went through the doorframe in Rhuidean. Keolah 03:31, 20 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Death and Rebirth

Possibly referring to the time Rahvin's lightning bolts killed him and then Rand's Balefire rendered him alive again? The only thing I'm not certain of is whether or not he actually did die (Asmodean crisped, Aviendha clearly dead, but I don't recall him checking to see if Mat was alive or just a little fried.) 68.225.242.19 08:12, 20 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Is there any reference for the Odin connection? It seems like original research. Supersheep 15:07, 23 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

luck

Just out of curiousity, does anyone here know whether Mat's good fortune is a result of being ta'veren, or from the tainted dagger? His luck was not apparent until Book 3 "The Dragon Reborn", and in Book 1 "The Eye of the World" he speaks of his father thrashing him for owing money from gambling debts, implying that he lost more often than won.
