The Blob (franchise)

Hey! The article is now in the mainspace, but portions of the article are missing and I cannot go back and view the information that I had added. It has been removed from the revision log, and I can't quite figure out how to retrieve it. Can you assist?--DisneyMetalhead (talk) 19:33, 25 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I would also add that I'm not sure why it seems to indicate that you thought the plots were violation of copyright(?).--DisneyMetalhead (talk) 19:35, 25 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @DisneyMetalhead. Could you visit WP:TEAHOUSE? Editors over there would be able to help you. I don't have enough time on my hands atm. Thanks — DaxServer (t · m · c) 20:53, 25 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@DaxServer: I surely can visit that page, but I'm curious what I would be asking there. Would I ask them why you have removed those sections(?), because I don't think they can necessarily know what you're thinking. Thanks for taking the time to reply, m8!--DisneyMetalhead (talk) 05:52, 28 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@DisneyMetalhead It's a copyright violation, meaning you can't copy from elsewhere see Wikipedia:Copyrights, Wikipedia:Copyright violationsDaxServer (t · m · c) 17:36, 28 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't copy from elsewhere though... I was paraphrasing the plots. I will go at it again when I can. Thanks m8.--DisneyMetalhead (talk) 06:28, 30 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Query about Accounts

Hi @DaxServer:,

I had a question on multiple accounts. The other day, in the investigation we had here [1], the editor said he created new accounts only to test images and was not aware of all the rules.

I feel it's actually a valid point because Wiki has tons of policies, and in most cases, editors don't even read them before creating an account. Most of us learn the rules gradually. In such a scenario, if an editor, who is new to Wiki, creates a duplicate id with good faith and later realizes it's a compliance issue, how does he rectify it? (Panchalidraupadi (talk) 22:24, 30 September 2022 (UTC))[reply]

Hi @Panchalidraupadi From what I observed, almost all the cases that end up at the SPI investigations had the blocked editors spinning up stories that I believe the reviewing admins have heard multiple times, just like this one as well. In a case where the user genuinely doesn't know that socking is not allowed and is blocked, they are asked to review the rules and state what they understood from the rules, and certainly not repeat them. Most such users do not do that and just create another accounts which at a later point in time would get caught and simply repeats the process again, while some just leave editing and move on to something else. To be unblocked after socking, they need to come clean about their intentions, from their original account, and state that they would not repeat socking. In such cases, admins would unblock them — DaxServer (t · m · c) 16:02, 1 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@DaxServer:Thanks! Actually, I saw some senior editors who came clean on their Userpage that they did have other ids, and regret vandalizing, but do not use them anymore. Are such declarations of mistakes allowed without getting blocked? Assuming not all are same, editors would be scared to come clean even if their intentions were not bad when they created them. - (Panchalidraupadi (talk) 16:16, 1 October 2022 (UTC))[reply]
Yes @Panchalidraupadi Coming clean [with a regret [and full disclosure] to past actions [and swearing not to do that again]] would be the first step, followed by [probably] [in-depth] inspection of the edits by other editors. If in doubt, asking admins for help-when they don't understand something or don't know what to do-would make life easier for everyone involved. If the current intentions are good and align with that of WP's mission, they would be allowed to edit, but with great oversight by other admins/editors. But then again, admins are the ones who take the decisions over these.
Also, if there are legitimate alternate accounts, one needs to disclose them like how I did on my user page and those alternate account user pages — DaxServer (t · m · c) 16:35, 1 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@DaxServer:Thanks! Understood. :) Panchalidraupadi (talk) 16:39, 1 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I was about to close this with a move. Despite the correctness of using the common name, I looked into other airport articles, and they are almost always at the official name. *shrugs* - UtherSRG (talk) 12:17, 3 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@UtherSRG I see, but I see that oppose rationale that the Chandigarh Airport is the current WP:COMMONNAME to hold. All the news articles are about the rename, since it's only a few days and thus the new name hasn't entered the common name era. Do you know of any such recent airport RMs? — DaxServer (t · m · c) 12:30, 3 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I don't. But I checked all the major airports I use (either in person or verbally) and they are all at the official name, with a note that the "colloquial name is X": Newark airport, LA Airport, LaGuardia airport, San Diego airport, etc. *shrugs* - UtherSRG (talk) 13:45, 3 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Munich Airport isn’t at its official name. The references at the page are unfortunately quite appalling. Lots of primary sources and almost half of them are in German. Either way, do you want to start a move review and ratify if there’s a consensus on the observation you’ve made? — DaxServer (mobile) (t · m · c) 14:18, 3 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Fun. I don't know that it's worth it. Thanks for the discussion. - UtherSRG (talk) 15:16, 3 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Lulz... Munich airport is at the English translation of its official name. Same diff. ;) - UtherSRG (talk) 15:18, 3 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Yikes — DaxServer (mobile) (t · m · c) 15:51, 3 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
From its talk page it seems the page was moved around 2007 to the current title of Munich Airport. Thinking out loud, all the public utilities (like the public transit) are using Munich Airport on their boards. Side note, the same with München Hauptbahnhof, they using Munich Central Station. I’ve been thinking for some while to do some research into the English sources on how they refer to the railway station and put an RM. WP:NCGERMAN might have some details — DaxServer (mobile) (t · m · c) 16:05, 3 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Ahh that's WP:NCGER without any man 😅 — DaxServer (t · m · c) 16:44, 3 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
There are so many comments I could make on that. XD - UtherSRG (talk) 16:49, 3 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Unsourced films

Hi there are a lot of unsourced Hindi films without the "no reference" tag. wondering if you had a script to find pages without any sources. DareshMohan (talk) 21:01, 17 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@DaxServer: +1. Thanks to @DareshMohan: for bringing this up. I too am looking for a way to search for unreferenced articles + those with bareurl tags. Is there an easier way to do it? Thanks in advance. - (Panchalidraupadi (talk) 07:30, 19 October 2022 (UTC))[reply]
Hi @DareshMohan @Panchalidraupadi I'd suggest trying out the Wikipedia:New pages patrol - it has good tools that can help you with new articles that have no citations — DaxServer (t · m · c) 21:08, 21 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
