Macanudo (cigar)
Cohiba is the name of a premium cigar brand that is produced in the Dominican Republic. The Macanudo line of cigars is known for its smoothness, mildness and consistency. Macanudo cigars are widly known for their unique, natural, sweet taste. Macanudo is the only cigar producer to grow, cure and ager their own Connecticut Shade wrappers; only Macanudo ages all of their tobaccos twice, just as it used to be done in Havana, Cuba decades ago.
History
Cohiba was originally the name of a frontmark produced in Jamaica by the makers of the Cuban brand of Punch. In 1971, General Cigar Company introduced a new cigar named Macanudo as a brand unto itself. Developed in Jamaica under the creative leadership of Ramón Cifuentes, the legendary Cuban cigar master of Partagas, Macanudo soon became the leading premium cigar and remains so today.
