J1 Transfers references

Hi! In the bottom of the article i linked the transfers to an Official source, the own J.League. In the edit summary i also provided a few other links. I think it would be too much to add a reference to every single transfer... Should i do the same i did with the JFL transfer articles? There i linked the news section of each team site on the external links. ~~ Skydream1721 (talk) 03:04, 2 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Assuming that you are talking about List of J1 League football transfers 2023, at least add one ref tag in each section. That way reader know where to look for the rest. Currently they might have to check every reference to verify a single detail. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 03:09, 2 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I added a ref to a section the way i'm imagining in my mind just to say how would i add references to the sections. Please tell me if it's enough or not, for i'm still a bit confused ~~ Skydream1721 (talk) 03:17, 2 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
What you did was essentially ok, but i would add refs to a particular report and not to the page that lists all the transfer reports. After a year or two, your ref will not be valid as the transfers for 2023 will probably exit the first page.
That said, you'll also have to show notability for the topic of the list itself. Please read WP:SIGCOV. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 03:26, 2 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Aside from all the other work i need to do outside on Wikipedia and inside the Wikipedia regarding nearly every single page of 2022/23 competitions and its participating clubs, i run alone 4 pages of Japanese football transfers... I won't be able to add to every player a reference. So, i will do the partial reference by adding one to each section. Also, the ref do not expire. The J.League have different links to transfers article from each year, for example: 2022 Transfers and 2023 Transfers ~~ Skydream1721 (talk) 03:37, 2 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Tintin1803 on User:Tintin1803 (11:50, 2 December 2022)

Hello, I want to make a page on wikipedia for me so people will know who i am, because i am becoming relevant in our country. Can you assist me a little please? Thanks for your help, Inti Pucihar --Tintin1803 (talk) 11:50, 2 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Tintin1803, it is strongly recommended NOT to create an article about yourself. Please read WP:AUTOBIO. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 10:22, 3 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Question from QuicksmartTortoise513 (06:43, 25 December 2022)

Hello, MPGuy, and Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! I am wondering why I have not been placed under the WP:extended-confirmed group, even though I fit the "30-500" criteria. Thank you. --QuicksmartTortoise513 (talk) 06:43, 25 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Never mind. The status has been updated. Thank you so much, also, for being my mentor and teaching me techniques. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! QuicksmartTortoise513 (talk) 00:36, 26 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi QuicksmartTortoise513, i guess the updates aren't immediate but are done regularly a few times a day. Congrats on reaching this milestone! Wikipedia has millions of accounts, but less than 64,000 are extended-confirmed (according to Wikipedia:User access levels#Extended confirmed users)
Happy upcoming New Year to you too. Since i'm not religious, i like to wish people a happy Saturnalia! -MPGuy2824 (talk) 02:55, 26 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, and also, a merry Festivus to you too! (I don't personally celebrate it) QuicksmartTortoise513 (talk) 07:05, 26 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Reviewer of the year

Hey, just wondering how busy you are and when you are going to do the 2022 barnstars. There is no rush, but if you are going to get to it right away, we can include it in a newsletter next week. If not, a summary can go in the one after that. Either way, please review the current draft. Thanks. MB 04:27, 30 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

MB, I was planning to start this sort of discussion on the NPP talk page, on 2nd January (to ensure that 2023 has arrived for everyone). I had thought about keeping the discussion open for a week and only then award the Cup, as well the barnstars. If you think the newsletter needs to go out early, i can start the discussion on 1st Jan and keep the discussion open only for 3-4 days. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 04:59, 30 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
We didn't do that for 2021. Didn't you, me, and NL just have a brief discussion and decide it would automatically go to who did the most reviews - it's going to be Onel's second cup, no one else is even close. I think we can do that again. Do you concur @Novem Linguae? MB 06:21, 30 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I don't have a problem with this too. Obviously Onel was gonna be my nomination, and i wasn't expecting serious dissent on that aspect. If we are going ahead with this, I'd like to take Jan 1st to build/update the various tables for WP:NPPA, and then do the actual awards on the 2nd. The newsletter can then go out anytime after that. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 06:31, 30 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah I think our workflow previously was that it's encouraged that we give it to the top reviewer numerically, but we have the coordinators look at the numbers and double check everything. That way we can spot any issues with a bot taking the #1 spot or any other issues that might arise. I'd be fine with it going to Onel if he is the #1 numeric reviewer again. Well deserved. –Novem Linguae (talk) 07:11, 30 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Question from IHateMySelf762 on User:IHateMySelf762/sandbox (19:01, 30 December 2022)

Hello! May I ask, how to create a template for a school? --IHateMySelf762 (talk) 19:01, 30 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! Welcome to Wikipedia (as an editor). I've left you a message on your talk page with a few links that you can read through.
Now to your question: I assume you mean an infobox template, of the kind that is visible on the top-right of Eton College. If that's the case, then you can use Template:Infobox school. Also, do note that schools have a high bar for notability, and they need at least 2 or 3 in-depth references in independent, reliable sources. I suggest that you start your school article in your sandbox first. We can then take it from there. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 03:33, 31 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Move to Draft

Can you take the last version of the EVAD script and change it to issue a message: This script is no longer being maintained. Please switch to the current version: Edit your edit your common.js file from Evad37/MoveToDraft.js to MPGuy2824/MoveToDraft.js

You or I can then make an edit request to get an Interface-Admin to do the update. MB 03:08, 31 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Unmaintained message for Evad's script
MB, I've done the changes on my local machine, and it would look like the screenshot on the right. There is another option though: Replace Evad's script with a redirect to mine. This would be more seamless for users. @Novem Linguae: thoughts? -MPGuy2824 (talk) 05:03, 31 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Interface administrators are usually hesitant to redirect user scripts without the authorization of the original creator, for security reasons. The people that downloaded that script may trust Evad but may not trust the new maintainer. It's up to the patrolling intadmins though. Also redirecting user scripts can be tricky... if that idea is pursued, make sure to test carefully. The normal #REDIRECT notation may not work for user scripts; you may need something like importScript('blah') instead. You can always post at WP:IANB or ping an intadmin for additional advice. Hope this helps. –Novem Linguae (talk) 05:07, 31 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Yup, importScript works on my local machine. I can give the int-admin both choices while doing the edit request. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 05:15, 31 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
There is a third way too: Instead of replacing Evad's script completely with the message, we can just add an alert, before the main part of the script starts. This way, if folks want to continue with that script, they can; at least they are informed of the newer version. Was this what you meant, MB? This would be a much smaller change, and I'd guess that int-admins would have less of an issue with this change. You can try out this version by adding User:MPGuy2824/Evad37/MoveToDraft.js to your common.js file. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 06:02, 31 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, that is what I meant. Just display a message and still run. I thought an I/A would be most likely to permit that. MB 01:16, 1 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Understood. Once you've tested it out to see what it looks like, i'll make the edit request. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 03:36, 1 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
With the message in a pop-up window that has to be dismissed, people that want to continue using the script may complain. I was expecting just a message at the top. I think we should do that at first to make deprecating the script more gradual. MB 16:21, 1 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, just a message at the top isn't much of an intrusion.
I've done this. Try it out. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 05:06, 2 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Busy right now with RFA (thanks for your comment there), will try to get to this soon. MB 06:09, 2 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
