A Mí No Me La Hacen (AMNMLH) (English: 'I am not easily fooled') is a Peruvian media and information literacy (MIL) non-governmental organization.

Founded in 2020, it teaches and promotes media and information literacy with a multidisciplinary team of professionals.[1][2][3][4] Earning multiple accolades including an award from UNESCO [5], it has been recognized by academics as Peru's leading Media and Information Literacy organization.[6]

Work

AMNMLH aims to respond to the misinfodemic with a grassroots ("bottom-up") perspective, empowering citizens by teaching them how media works. To do so, they organize workshops and online educational content, which teach MIL through the perspectives of journalism and natural or behavioural sciences, among others. Alongside these activities, A Mí No Me La Hacen promotes media and information literacy education and advocacy in Peru by organizing annual symposiums[7][8][9] (during UNESCO's Global MIL Week,[10]) and by participating in seminars organized by UNESCO, and the Peruvian Ministries of Education and Communication.[11]

Recognition

In 2021, A Mí No Me La Hacen received the UNESCO Global Media and Information Literacy Award in recognition for their work.[12][13] In 2022, A Mí No Me La Hacen participated in the 6th Alfamed Congress in Arequipa, an international event gathering Media and Information Literacy experts from Latinamerica, and participating in the writing of its publication [14] . On the same year, they also earned a distinction for their advocacy for Media and Information Literacy by the peruvian NGO “Democracia Digital”[15].
