Hi Kerry. We have some common interests

[edit]

Hi Kerry. We have some common interests. I was a history major at UST Class of 1967. Not long afterwards, 1973, I started supporting the SPLC and then in 1994 Emily's List. My wife, Rowena Young, and an African American Dancer founded the Houston Swing Dance Society, a 501 c 3 dedicated to the preservation and promotion of Lindy hop and the music of the Swing Dance Era. Under HSDS we have a program called the Frankie Manning Foundation and the Black Lindy Hoppers Fund both programs of HSDS. I'm also a long time board member of Children at Risk, a research and advocacy group that focuses on making the lives of Texas children better. I also am the president of the University of Fondwa USA which supports the University of Fondwa in Haiti (UNIF), the only university in Haiti located in a rural communal section Buddy Steves Buddyfrommobile (talk) 17:12, 17 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Buddy, thanks for letting me know of the wonderful work you and your wife have done. I'm very familiar with Children at Risk. They make a substantial contribution to education and youth issues in Houston and in Texas more generally. Wardkerry (talk) 19:02, 26 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
