Operator: Eagle 101 talk
Automatic or Manually Assisted: Automated
Programming Language(s): Perl
Function Summary: To create articles on asteroids with infoboxes in the userspace
Edit period(s) (e.g. Continuous, daily, one time run): One time run
Edit rate requested: Five per minute
Already has a bot flag (Y/N): N
Function details: The bot would create articles on asteroids with infoboxes in them, but only in the userspace, and the articles would have to manually be added to the mainspace after more detail is added. There would be about 13,000 articles created. Only asteroids with official names would have articles created by the bot.
Function
[edit]In essence the bot will be grabbing data from http://ssd.jpl.nasa.gov/sbdb.cgi?sstr=1 whose information is supposed to be in the public domain. The relevant information will go to infoboxes and help create stub class articles either in mainspace or in userspace. The bot will not overwrite an existing article. When the source is complete I will release it under GPL v2. —— Eagle101Need help? 06:35, 9 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]Since I don't think there's any real risk with this, Approved for trial (50 edits). Please provide a link to the relevant contributions and/or diffs when the trial is complete. --uǝʌǝsʎʇɹnoɟʇs 10:27, 17 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- I was expecting a bit more time taken here, I don't even have the thing finished ;) —— Eagle101Need help? 17:53, 17 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- I should elaborate that there will be a few tests in the sandbox first, and I may hand the bot off to Daniel to run. (Running bots is not hard, and I dislike having to monitor them). —— Eagle101Need help? 17:55, 17 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Bot works, some flaws were fixed while on trial, but no flaws for the last 10 or so pages, so I can assume all is well. —— Eagle101Need help? 22:03, 17 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
