Zblewo [ˈzblɛvɔ] (Template:Lang-de) is a village in Starogard County, Pomeranian Voivodeship, in northern Poland. It is the seat of Gmina Zblewo.[1] It lies approximately 14 kilometres (9 mi) west of Starogard Gdański and 52 km (32 mi) south-west of the regional capital Gdańsk. It is located within the ethnocultural region of Kociewie in the historic region of Pomerania.
The village has a population of 3,615.
Transport
The village is served by a railway station on the Tczew - Kostrzyn route, line 203.
Zblewo is located on the national road DK22 in between Chojnice and Starogard Gdański on the road running from Gorzów Wielkopolski to the Russian Border in Masuria.
Amenities
There is a shopping centre in Zblewo as well as shops in located the village centre. There is a sports center in the village that includes a football pitch and basketball court.
Sports
The village is represented by the football team LZS Sokół Zblewo who currently play in the Klasa A division.[2] The village's municipal stadium is also the home ground of KS Sławek Borzechowo[3] from the neighbouring village of Borzechowo.
History
The oldest mention of the village dates back to 1305.[4] Zblewo was a royal village of the Polish Crown, administratively located in the Tczew County in the Pomeranian Voivodeship.[5]
The development of Zblewo in the latter half of the 19th century is primarily associated with the construction of the Prussian Eastern Railway.[6]
During the Nazi occupation of Poland (World War II), in 1939, the Nazis murdered several Poles from Zblewo, including a local priest, along with Poles from other villages in large massacres in the Szpęgawski Forest (see Intelligenzaktion).[7]
Climate
Zblewo's climate is quite a comfortable one with Summer Temperatures around 18C and winter temperatures around -2C the temperatures rarely pass below -15C in winter time and rarely pass above 28C in Summer time the warmest month is July with an average high of 24C and the coldest month is January with an average high of -2C.
The driest month is February [Rainfall] with an average of 11 millimeters in the month and the wettest month is July with an average of 59 millimeters during the month
Snowfall occurs from October to Early April Some Years the snowiest month is January with 85 millimeters of snow averaged
Snow does not occur during the months May-Mid October
