Synopsis
"The Quiet Epidemic" is a documentary film that explores the contentious landscape surrounding the treatment of Lyme disease, a controversial and divisive medical debate. The film follows the journeys of Julia, a teenager confined to a wheelchair after falling ill three years prior to filming, and Neil, an oncologist trained at Harvard who redirects his focus to Lyme disease research following his own misdiagnosis.
These individuals find themselves marginalized by the medical establishment, left unsupported by insurance companies and the pharmaceutical industry, as they struggle to gain validation and restore their health.
