The Quiet Epidemic is a 2022 film focusing on the chronic Lyme disease controversy. The film was directed by Winslow Crane-Murdoch and Lindsay Keys.[1][2][3]

Synopsis

The film explores the contentious landscape surrounding the treatment of chronic Lyme disease, a controversial medical diagnosis. The film follows the journeys of Julia, a teenager confined to a wheelchair after falling ill three years prior to filming, and Neil, an oncologist trained at Harvard who redirects his focus to Lyme disease research following his own medical experience.

These individuals find themselves marginalized by the medical establishment, insurance companies and the pharmaceutical industry, as they struggle to gain validation and restore their health.

The documentary follows various aspects of alleged chronic Lyme disease, including research efforts, diagnostic procedures, the impact on the cardiovascular system and the brain, as well as related fatalities.[4]
