Asur is an Indian Hindi-language crime thriller web series. The first season was produced by Tanveer Bookwala and aired on Voot while the second season, produced by Bombay Fables, Sejal Shah, Bhavesh Mandalia, and Gaurav Shukla aired on Jio Cinema.[2] Both seasons are set in the context of a modern day serial killer with religious ties. Arshad Warsi made his OTT debut through this series.[3]
The first season premiered on on 2 March 2020 and the second season on 1 June 2023.[4]
Plot
Set in the backdrop of the mystical city of Varanasi, Asur follows Nikhil Nair, a forensic-expert-turned-teacher, who returns to his roots at the Central Bureau of Investigation, and along with his former mentor Dhananjay Rajpoot, finds himself caught in a cat-and-mouse game with a brutal serial killer.[5] What follows is a blend of suspense, mythology and the murders of some people totally unrelated.
Season 2 Plot: Shubh is seen using cutting-edge technology to carry out his evil plans, similar to the classic Kali vs. Kalki mythological story.[6]
