Sujit Meher is an Indian Fashion Designer, born in Kalahandi district of Odisha.He is well known for reviving Traditional Handloom textile of Kalahandi called Habaspuri.[1][2]

Early Life

Born in Chichaiguda,Kalahndi district, to a Bhulia Hindu weaver family.He has been graduated from National Institute of Fashion Design.[3][4][5]

Career

He started his career as fashion designer but later became entrepreneur, As he has received trademark permission under a brand name from the Government of India to export handloom products like Habaspuri handloom,sambalpuri Handloom and other handlooms of Odisha.[6]He has made a unique mixture of Sambalpuri with Mysore Silk to promote the traditional handloom across the world.According to Meher,as hailing from a weaver family he has responsibility towards taking Sambalpuri Handlooms to the next level with his designs and innovations.[7]


Awards

He became the first odia to receive Indian Achiever’s Award in the category of Young Entrepreneur.[8]
