Welcome to Wikipedia from the Medicine WikiProject!
Welcome to Wikipedia from WikiProject Medicine (also known as WPMED).
We're a group of editors who strive to improve the quality of medical articles here on Wikipedia. I noticed that you are interested in editing medical articles; it's great to have a new editor on board. In your wiki-voyages, a few things that may be relevant to editing Wikipedia articles are:
- Thanks for coming aboard! We always appreciate a new editor. Feel free to leave us a message at any time on our talk page. If you are interested in joining the project yourself, there is a participant list where you can sign up. Please leave a message on the WPMED talk page if you have any problems, suggestions, would like review of an article, need suggestions for articles to edit, or would like some collaboration when editing!
- Sourcing of medical and health-related content on Wikipedia is guided by our medical sourcing guidelines, commonly referred to as MEDRS. These guidelines typically require recent secondary sources to support information; their application is further explained here. Primary sources (case studies, case reports, research studies) are rarely used, especially if the primary sources are produced by the organisation or individual who is promoting a claim.
- The Wikipedia community includes a wide variety of editors with different interests, skills, and knowledge. We all manage to get along through a lot of discussion that happens under the scenes and through the bold, revert, discuss editing cycle. If you encounter any problems, you can discuss them on an article's talk page or post a message on the WPMED talk page.
Feel free to drop a note on my talk page if you have any questions. I wish you all the best on your wiki voyages! Graham87 (talk) 14:42, 17 October 2023 (UTC)

Your edits seem to give undue weight to René Favaloro's contribution. New users trying to advance a point of view (especially on a carefully constructed article) are treated with suspicion here. You need to declare any conflict of interest you have regarding this subject. Graham87 (talk) 14:42, 17 October 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you for expressing your concern. I don't have any conflicts of interest, and I am not even Argentine myself, but thank you for bringing this up. If you believe there is undue weight, please support that with trustable sources and references. Having studied the subject before and having familiarised myself with the work of Favaloro and others in the field, I have concluded that his contributions in this particular area were clearly dimmed in the article, which I have sought to correct. I have provided very solid references including the UK's NHS and the The Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery. Favaloro's work was truly transformational - I do not agree with your edit, please revert it immediately. Wpntm (talk) 15:09, 17 October 2023 (UTC)
- In fact I might consider the possibility that "changed the field forever" could be a bit debatable. Just "changed the field" (which is beyond any debate) would probably be more appropriate.
- A note on fair editing: your lack of trust for another user's edits is not, in my view, sufficient justification for undoing their hard work. If you feel you don't trust something, please do your homework, do the research, find suitable references and build a respectful dialogue. I argue that it will be impossible to refute that Favaloro's work was foundational.
- Finally, a note on "new users": do not assume you are talking to a new user. I'm a long time contributor and donor who has only recently decided to register under a username.
- Either way, thank you very much for your passion to keep Wikipedia at its best, and please review your undoing of my edit. Wpntm (talk) 15:16, 17 October 2023 (UTC)
