Hussaini Ishaq Magaji SAN is a Nigerian lawyer, politician, and the current Registrar General of the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) of Nigeria. He was appointed to this position by President Bola Tinubu on 13 October 2023.[1][2][3][4][5]

Early Life and Education

Ishaq Magaji was born and raised in Shiro Local Government of Bauchi State, Nigeria. He completed his primary education in 1992 before moving on to Government Science Secondary School in Toro, Bauchi State. From 1992 to 1995, he attended this school and obtained his Junior Secondary School Certificate. Magaji then continued his education at Albayan Secondary School in Jos, where he completed his Senior Secondary School Certificate in 1999.

Driven by a passion for law, Magaji enrolled at Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria and pursued his LLB (Hons) degree from 2001 to 2007. After completing his undergraduate studies, he attended the Nigerian Law School from 2007 to 2008 and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2008. Magaji also pursued further education, obtaining a Master’s in Law from the University of Jos in 2012 and an MBA with a specialization in Finance and Investment from Bayero University, Kano in 2014.

Career

Magaji’s professional journey began in 2009 when he joined the Bauchi State Ministry of Justice as a Pupil State Counsel. Over the years, he demonstrated exceptional skills and dedication, eventually rising to the position of Deputy Director of Public Prosecution in 2020. In recognition of his expertise and contributions to the legal field, Magaji was conferred with the prestigious rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) by the Legal Practitioners and Privileges Committee (LPPC) in 2021.

After his successful tenure in the public service, Magaji decided to transition to private legal practice. On December 9, 2021, he established his own law firm, ISHAQ MAGAJI SAN & CO., where he provided legal services to clients. However, his impressive track record and commitment to excellence caught the attention of Sen. Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, who appointed Magaji as the Registrar-General of the Corporate Affairs Commission on October 13, 2023.

As the Registrar-General of the Corporate Affairs Commission, Magaji plays a crucial role in the development and regulation of corporate affairs in Nigeria. His extensive legal knowledge and experience continue to contribute to the growth and efficiency of the commission, ensuring transparency and accountability in corporate governance.[6][7] [8][9][10]
