Primarily interested in creating and improving articles on mycology and related subjects.

Currently: the secretary of the Wisconsin Mycological Society (WMS). Also, member, board member at large, community science coordinator and webmaster for WMS.

I am working on a page for WMS right now, but will have someone else or ideally more than 2 other people look at it first before publishing to get help and also a more objective/outside view on the proposed page. This page will use multiple sources besides our own website including news articles and I will be asking about in what cases is it appropriate, if at all, for me to cite our own website.

My username is mkremedios on iNaturalist, https://www.inaturalist.org/people/mkremedios and I am on Mushroom Observer as well, as MariahRogers, but have not uploaded much myself yet there. If anyone knows how to make the 'cross posting' widget thing work for posting to both sites at once, please tell me.

I am open to uploading any of my observation photos to be used in Wikipedia articles. However I would like to know about it, preferably ahead of time, but hearing about it later is fine too.

Prior to this, I spent many years editing in small ways as an IP user. I had a dynamic IP for most of that time, so besides looking up articles I know I edited and hunting down which ones were mine there isn't a way for me to list my past record. However it was mostly a typo fix here, formatting addition of a paragraph there. For the most part I am still new in terms of learning, especially about how to actually create articles which I had never done before.

In Progress

[edit]
  • Draft for Violet Rea, and/or adding her to Carleton Rea's page, creating a page for Emma Amy Rea (Violet's mother) and adding Violet to her page as well. Links: Violet Rea ... Carleton Rea ...Emma Amy Rea
  • Draft for the Wisconsin Mycological Society - User:MariahKRogers/Wisconsin Mycological Society - I will be looking for entirely WMS-unaffiliated editors to look at it before it is proposed as an article to be sure it is actually notable, well-sourced, in an encyclopedic tone and lacks bias. I will not be making this article my priority over other work I see is already being requested by various WikiProjects, so it will take me a while. I would like to improve other mycological society pages, too, including those where I am not a member.
  • Draft for Cystofilobasidium macerans aka Sap Yeast - User:MariahKRogers/Cystofilobasidium macerans - I have some photos of this myself and this Spring will collect a sample and get microscopy images as well. It appears on a number of trees near me every year.
  • To-Be-Started Draft for the Cable Natural History Museum - User:MariahKRogers/Cable Natural History Museum in Cable, WI ... and although I don't think I have a real conflict of interest with this one at all, I'll list the circumstances just to be sure. I do not work for CNHM, have never worked for CNHM, am not applying to work for CNHM and no one is asking me to write this. That being said, I have been there and met a few different people who do work there, had conversations, been hiking a couple times. Wisconsin Mycological Society has a retreat foray (multi day event focused on fungi) in the Cable, WI area and in 2022 did hold a small benefit for the museum as a way to promote nature education and honor the community we visit there. The idea to create this article occurred to me as I saw it referenced on this page: Paleontology in Wisconsin and I genuinely think this museum is notable. I hope I will be able to create its page in a fair way that uses multiple sources including the many newspaper articles referencing it.
