Votes cast in England, Scotland and Wales: SDP/SLD[edit]

There is one major error here made by the source on which this article is based. Following the merger between the bulk of the SDP and the Liberals in early 1988, talks between the "continuing SDP" and the new party (then known as the Social and Liberal Democrats, or SLD) broke down, although intermittent attempts were made to resume them. During the 1989 campaign, the SLD and the SDP ran seperate candidates and campaigns opposing each other, and so it is incorrect to place their votes together. I'd correct this using this source, a Parliamentary research paper:

http://www.parliament.uk/commons/lib/research/rp99/rp99-057.pdf

But, as you can see, this figures from this paper and those from this article's original source do not tally. Further research is needed. Hyuey 09 Jan 01:08 (UTC)
