Open Institute of Technology (OPIT) is an online higher education institution, accredited within the European Union by the Malta Further and Higher Education Authority (MFHEA).[1][2] Its current Rector is Francesco Profumo, a former Minister of Education of Italy and former Rector of Politecnico di Torino.[1][3]

History

OPIT was founded in 2022 by Riccardo Ocleppo.[4][5][6]

Faculty

OPIT professors are from multiple countries, including Brazil, Canada, Germany, Italy, Lebanon, Poland, Scotland, Spain, Sweden, and the United States.[7][8]

Pedagogical model

OPIT pedagogical model, derived from the didactic method, is focused on quality, flexibility, career alignment and inclusivity. It uses a combination of synchronous and asynchronous digital resources for round-the-clock learning.[1] The model also facilitates a sense of community through app-integrated features, a divergent approach from conventional university systems, while providing relevant industry skills.[7]

Accreditation

OPIT is registered in Malta and is accredited within the European Qualifications Framework (EQF) and the Malta Qualifications Framework (MQF) due to its accreditation with the MFHEA.[7][1][9]
