Own page

[edit]

Why are we changing something that works? Many UFC event pages have had its own page, now it looks like pages are being merged, and for what just because this page is a place holder? This event will happen, if not, it will be rescheduled. Please see mmajunkie.com as a credible website, as it is owned by USA Today, unless Wikipedia deems USA Today an uncredible source? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.160.140.74 (talk) 00:49, 3 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

the pages look like crap now, where did the country flags go? that was half the reason I used wiki for upcoming UFC matches, time to find a new source.... - Brandon F — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.165.255.186 (talk) 22:24, 14 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Tune up

[edit]

Deleted all that nonsense about "this fight is a rivalry, this fight is a tune up for GSP, etce, etc, blah blah blah". That isn't news. It's opinion and speculation no Matter how many sites its cited on or your personal preference of who should fight for a title Rissx (talk) 09:09, 7 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

That nonsense had reliable sources. UFC articles get deleted because we only put WP:ROUTINE coverage and Wikipedia is not a newspaper. Regards. --LlamaAl (talk) 13:03, 7 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

doesn't matter. it's not information that's based on fact and only on opinion. i dont care if it came from CBC or BBC or ESPN or wherever it came from, it's speculation and nothing more. no one writes on the Death of Caylee Anthony page "her mom was probably guilty, here's a bunch of legit news agencies that said so" because it's not factual Rissx (talk) 07:39, 12 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

It's an interesting point and it has sources... I'm sure the original text could be rephrased to be more suitable for the article though. osklil talk 17:30, 12 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

What about including "this fight is now viewed as a tuneup fight for st. Pierre" makes this event MORE notable? Not all 7 of those sources say that Rissx (talk) 00:28, 16 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Feel free to remove or reword it, but leave the sources. --LlamaAl (talk) 01:05, 16 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Fallout

[edit]

There's been a ton of fallout from this event, including extensive mainstream coverage of Nick Diaz admitting he has never payed US income taxes: http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/ufc/2013/03/18/-ufc-fighter-nick-diaz-tax-comments/1998249/

I really don't have enough experience editing to add sections/references to articles, but maybe someone interested in the project can add something about this? 141.214.17.5 (talk) 16:47, 19 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
