This song may contain a mondegreen. In the version by The Corries it goes "I once loved a lass and I loved her so weell, I hated all others that spoke of her ail". Some may have hear it as "I hated all others that spoke of her age." PatGallacher (talk) 00:32, 24 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
