Trumpator mare mare[edit]

I'm currently scanning the encyclopedia for accidentally repeated words beginning with "m". "Trumpator mare mare" in the "Pedigree" looks odd to me, so I checked the source. The source says "Trumpater Mare (GB)", which also looks odd. Shouldn't it just be "Trumpator"? -- John of Reading (talk) 06:59, 2 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. "Trumpator mare" is correct. Most horses at this time did not have official names, so they are known by descriptions. "Trumpator mare" is short for "an unnamed mare sired by the stallion Trumpator". Editors in this area differ in whether or not we capitalise the "m" in mare. Tigerboy1966  08:11, 2 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
