Mathew Hilakari is an Australian politician who is the current member for Point Cook in the Victorian Legislative Assembly. He is a member of the Labor Party and was elected in the 2022 state election.[1]
Career
[edit]Hilakari was the state convener and powerbroker of the Socialist Left faction of the Victorian Labor Party prior to his election. He was parachuted to contest Point Cook at the 2022 election, despite not living in the electorate at the time but instead in Seaford, near Frankston in Melbourne's south-eastern suburbs.[2]
Personal life
[edit]Hilakari's brother, Luke is the Secretary of the Victorian Trades Hall Council.[3]
