Some months later a video was posted of a person stretching and scrunching the skin of a male Sphynx cat. On November 7th, 2020, an uknown redditor claimed to have found the identity of the cat in the subreddit "r/bingus". He claimed the original user that posted the video could not be found on Instagram, Tiktok or Youtube, as he was chinese and did not have access to these social media sites.[3][4]

Furthermore the earliest post of "bingus" on the previously stated sites was on Instagram by a user named "subarusocks" on March 22nd 2020, the video gained over 1,600 views in seven months. The next day, Instagram user "big_chungles" reposted the video and received more than 27,000 views in the same period. The cat was dubbed "Bingus" as early as June 9th, with multiple comments on "big_chungles" post reading "hi bingus."

As mentioned bingus became a very known meme [6]on the internet and even got a page on the popular wbsite "know your meme" dedicated to it. With time the meme started to gain less popularity and became less talekd about, until a Overwatch youtuber named "bogur" made a video about bingus and the meme became popular again.[7]

On April 21st 2023 the famous youtuber "bogur" posted a 10 minute video about him talking about bingus while he played Overwatch in the background, the video gained over 53 thousand views on Youtube. This made him start posting more about bingus and educating his fans on the topic.[8]

It is belived that the sphynx cat became popular because of its funny expression and cute appearance. Although the bingus meme has not changed, now a days bingus is not as popular as it once was but still is very known in many social media websites.[9]
