Imelda works as a school librarian in a public high school in the Philippines and volunteers as an active editor in Central Bikol, Tagalog and English Wikipedia, Wikidata and an
administrator in Central Bikol Wiktionary. For her, one of her greatest achievement as a volunteer editor is being able to
train other editors and actively working with them until the Central Bikol Wiktionary was approved,
the only Philippine language-based Wikimedia Project that was hatched from Incubator for the past 13 years. Currently, she serves as one of the Board Members of the
Wiki World Heritage User Group. She also served as one of the
Local Coordinators for the
Reading Wikipedia in the Classroom Project in the Philippines, under the
Wikimedia Education Team. As part of a
regional council of librarians, she introduces Wikipedia, and other Wikimedia Projects to her fellow colleagues in librarianship. Also, she is part of the active editors that aims to develop the Central Bikol and Tagalog Wikiquote platforms, both still under incubation. As an advocate of free knowledge and open educational sources, she continues to teach other local Wikimedians to
contribute to Wikimedia Projects, develop other Wikimedia Projects under Incubator, conduct edit-a-thons, offers technical support on
how to navigate Wikimedia Project and works on how to be able to
distribute offline Wikipedia to communities to bridge knowledge gap within the region.
