Career
Desai is affiliated with an NGO called Children's Rights in Goa.[3] Her work has focused on raising awareness of tourism-related paedophilia and child abuse.[4][5] She has campaigned for tighter security and better implementation of laws in regards to this matter.[6][7]
Education and works
Desai has a Ph.D. from Goa University.[8] She has published books on the menace of paedophilia including See the Evil: Tourism Related Paedophilia in Goa and Child Sexual Abuse in Goa: A Case Analysis.[9][10] Her other books include Liberation Vs Armed Aggression: The Media Response to Goa's Liberation and Life and Times of T B Cunha.[8][11]
Awards
Desai was awarded Yashadamini Puraskar by the Government of Goa in 2006 for her work.[12] She received Real Heroes Award from CNN-IBN and Reliance Industries in 2008.[13] Desai was honoured by Moneylife Foundation in 2012.[14]
