Chey Jae-won (born May 16, 1963) is a South Korean business magnate. He is the executive vice chairman of SK Group, South Korea's second largest conglomerate[1], which has more than 175 subsidiaires spanning the energy, life sciences, advanced materials,and semiconductor industries.
Chey Jae-won has also served as a co-CEO of SK On, the electric vehicle (EV) battery business affiliated with SK Group. Under his leadership, SK On has grown into a major EV battery company in the world[2]. SK On's global market share surged from the 9th position in 2019 to a 5th place in 2020[3]. Since then, the company has continued to solidify its position as one of the world's top 5 battery makers. Headquartered in Seoul, South Korea, SK On has a worldwide presence with its battery plants currently operating or under construction across the United States, Europe, and Aisa.
Chey Jae-won holds an MBA from Harvard University, an M.S. in Materials Science and Engineering from Stanford University, and a B.S. in Physics from Brown University.
He is the younger brother of Chey Tae-won, the chairman of SK Group.
