Kavya Maran (born 1 November 1991) is an Indian businessperson, CEO and co-owner[1] of Sunrisers Hyderabad in Indian Premier League (IPL)[2] and Sunrisers Eastern Cape in SA20 League. She is the daughter of Kalanithi Maran, the chairman and founder of the Sun Group.[3][4]

Early life education

She was born in Chennai. She completed her Bachelor of Commerce degree at Stella Maris College in Chennai in 2012. She holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from New York University Stern School of Business, which she earned in 2016.[5]

Career

Kavya joined the Sun Group, the conglomerate founded by her father, which is one of the largest media networks in Asia[6]. She began her professional journey by overseeing operations of Sun TV Network and Sun Music[6], among other FM channels under the Sun Group umbrella.

In 2018, she was appointed as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Sunrisers Hyderabad[6], the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise owned by the Sun Group. Under her leadership, the team has seen both successes and challenges in the league.

Awards

In January 2024, Kavya was awarded the 'Face and Force Behind Sunrisers Hyderabad[7]' at the Devi Awards[8], in recognition of her significant contributions to the franchise.

Net Worth

Kavya's net worth is estimated to be around $50 million[9] (approximately Rs. 409 crore), making her one of the wealthiest young businesswomen in India[10].
