Namun la Pass is one of the toughest mountain passes with an elevation of 4,850 meters (15,913 ft) above sea level in the Annapurna Himalayan range. The pass itself is located on a trail that connects Sikles Village to Timang Village. This pass is one of the most challenging passes in the whole Annapurna Region, even more challenging than the Kang La Pass, Thorung La Pass, and Larkya La Pass. It is the second-highest point in Namun La Pass Trek.

Historical and Cultural Significance

The pass was opened to trekkers in 2008 and remains a largely untapped destination, sparingly visited by international tourists. It holds historical importance as a key route for the Gurung community, historically known as the Tamu, who migrated from Tibet. The trek features the sacred glacial lake Dudh Pokhari, revered for its soul-cleansing properties and as a pilgrimage site during the Janai Purnima festival.

Trekking Itinerary

Day 1: Pokhara to Sikles

Day 2: Sikles to Kapuche Lake

->Trek to Kapuche Lake, the lowest glacier lake in the world.

Day 3: Kapuche Lake to Kori

->Move from Kapuche Lake to Kori, offering views of Annapurna II and IV.

Day 4: Kori to Thulek

->Ascend to Thulek with continuous views of the Annapurna range.

Day 5: Thulek to Dudhpokhari

->Trek to Dudhpokhari, known for its sacred significance.

Day 6: Dudhpokhari to Namun La Pass

->Reach the highest point of the trek, Namun La Pass, at 4,800 meters.

Day 7: Namun La Pass to Danfe Kharka

->Descend towards Danfe Kharka, a high-altitude grassland.

Day 8: Danfe Kharka to Timang

->Complete the descent to Timang, connecting with the Annapurna Circuit Trek.
