Admin Help[edit]

Sailess(Hikari) (talk) 07:12, 20 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I wanted to edit the page of Hari Bahadur Rokaya, and I have met him personally and written a blog about him which you can find here. The blog I provided is on a company's website so if I need to provide/write the information from the account of the company it is also possible
I wanted to edit his page with the information, he provided, however, I came across contact with the admin while editing live people. This b So what are the do's and don'ts? I have proof of meeting him and promised to fill his pages with information. How do I approach this? Sailess(Hikari) (talk) 08:01, 20 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
You will need to declare a conflict of interest(click for instructions). If he is compensating you in any manner for this(it doesn't have to be money) the Terms of Use require you to declare as a paid editor.
Your personal account of a meeting with this individual is not acceptable article content, as it is impossible to independently verify. Wikipedia articles summarize what independent reliable sources- sources with fact checking and editorial control- say about a topic. Your blog is a perfect place for it, but Wikipedia has much different and stricter standards. 331dot (talk) 09:24, 20 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
So I can't edit this page or I can edit but with research and proper references?
And about so some sort of compensations, I haven't received any. Just the thought of one of the most influential athlete from Nepal, doesn't have a Wikipedia page worth reading, compels me to make a suitable Wikipedia page for him. Sailess(Hikari) (talk) 09:54, 20 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
If you receive no form of compensation, you are not a paid editor- but as you have communicated with this person, you have a conflict of interest to declare.
The preferred term for the content of the encyclopedia is article, not page. You should propose edits on the talk page in the form of an edit request(click for instructions) if you have independent reliable sources to support them- your interview and personal account of meeting him unfortunately does not count. 331dot (talk) 10:35, 20 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
