Phuong Cao (born 1988) is a Research Scientist in the National Center for Supercomputing Applications at the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign in Urbana, Illinois.
Education and career
Do was born in Phú Thọ province, Vietnam. In the 2010s, he immigrated to United States and attended the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign. He currently works at the National Center for Supercomputing Applications [1].
Research
Phuong Cao's research contributions have strengthened the security of High-performance computing and Supercomputer systems. He is a speaker at ACM/IEEE Supercomputing Conference [2] and USENIX [3].
He has authored or co-authored tens of refereed publications,[4] [5]. He has led successful projects funded by the National Science Foundation in developing secure, correct-by-construction authentication tokens used in Supercomputer systems by bringing together: i) verification-aware languages such as Dafny, ii) the field of federated authentication in networked computing systems, and iii) a large scientific community of 20,000 researchers from 500+ organizations (both international and from the U.S.) who use SciTokens daily[6].
Recognitions
Phuong Cao was named Fellow of the Trusted CI, the National Science Foundation (NSF) Cybersecurity Center of Excellence in 2024[7] [8] [9] for broadening Trusted CI’s impact in cybersecurity research and education.
