The purpose of the Welcome Suica card is for people visiting Japan. Most of the ways a Welcome Suica card is different than a normal Suica card is because Welcome Suica cards do not last as long as a normal Suica card. Normal Suica cards last 10 years after purchase. Normal Suica cards are for Japanese citizens. Welcome Suica cards only last for 28 days and are mainly for tourists visiting Japan.[1] ALL Suica cards are only sold at JR East stations at a machine.
