Raymond Pun (Chinese: 潘宏; pinyin: Pān Hóng) is an academic and research librarian at the Alder Graduate School of Education. He is the elected president of the American Library Association for 2025–2026. On June 14, 2024, it was announced that Pun would be unable to assume the American Library Association presidency due to health reasons.

Education

Pun holds a bachelor's degree in history and a master's degree in East Asian studies from St. John's University in Queens, New York. He received a Master of Library Science (MLS) from Queens College. He achieved a doctor of education in educational leadership from California State University, Fresno.

Career

Raymond Pun's career includes reference librarian at The New York Public Library Stephen A. Schwarzman Building (2010–2013); reference and research services librarian at New York University Shanghai (2013–2015); first year student success librarian at California State University, Fresno (2015–2018); education and outreach Manager at The Hoover Institution, Stanford University (2021–2022); academic and research librarian at the Alder Graduate School of Education (2018-2021, 2022-Present).

Professional associations

Pun was president of the Chinese American Librarians Association (2022–2023) and the Asian Pacific American Librarians Association (2021-2022).

He has served on the American Library Association Council, Policy Corps, and advisory committees for two past presidents.
