The Minecraft Wiki is a online encyclopedia for the video game Minecraft. Similar to Wikipedia, it is a collaboratively edited wiki run on MediaWiki.
History
Founded in June 2009 by CriticSquid, one month after the game's public release, it was originally hosted on minecraftwiki.net.[2]
It became part of Curse LLC's Gamepedia in January 2011, and the website was migrated to minecraft.gamepedia.com in September 2013.[3] Following Fandom's acquisition of Curse in December 2018, the wiki was migrated to minecraft.fandom.com in March 2021, replacing the original wiki with that URL which was archived in December 2020.[4]
From July 2023, the wiki held a discussion regarding forking from Fandom and in September of that year they opted to fork using Weird Gloop.[5][6][7]
