The Virginia Tech shooting incident occurred on April 16, 2007. At least 22 students have been killed, and at least 28 injured. [1]
Two students were injured after they panicked and jumped out an upper level window. [1] The first shooting occurred at West Ambler Johnston Hall, a dormitory, where one person was killed. Shooting was also reported at Norris Hall, an engineering building.[1] All classes for the day and the following day were canceled and students were instructed to stay inside away from windows.[2] Also, all schools in Montgomery County have been closed for the day. It appears earlier reports that the police have arrested one suspected gunman were false[3] [4]. Now the AP is reporting the gunman is dead.[5]
At a noon press conference, authorities indicated there may have been over 20 fatalities and 28 injuries. [6]
As of 12:22 PM EDT, Fox News was reporting 22 dead, including one gunman who is reported to be an Asian-American student. [7] The AP is reporting 22 dead, including the one gunman.[5]
