Example numbering template?

I wanted to leave a link to this phabricator request that I placed some time ago. In a nutshell, I think it would be useful to have a way of formatting and automatically numbering examples along the lines of the command "\ex." in LaTeX. I don't have the technical knowledge to do this myself, but it would be really great to have something of this sort. Botterweg14 (talk) 16:00, 6 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
