Frederic C. Deyo
Frederic C. Deyo is an American sociologist known for his work on industrial relations, labor markets, and the political economy of development in East Asia. His research has contributed significantly to the understanding of labor dynamics, globalization, and economic transformations in the region.
Early Life and Education
Frederic C. Deyo received his bachelor's degree in Sociology from Yale University in 1964. He later pursued his graduate studies at UC Berkeley and the University of Chicago, earning a Ph.D. in Sociology. His dissertation focused on Ethnicity and Work Culture in Thailand.
Academic Career
Deyo began his academic career as a professor at Bucknell University in 1972. He later held positions at SUNY Brockport and Binghamton, where he taught courses on sociology, labor relations, and the political economy of development. Throughout his career, he has held various academic positions, including Foundation Director of the Centre for Development Studies at the University of Auckland.
