I'll get to this shortly--Sturmvogel 66 (talk) 11:48, 17 June 2024 (UTC)
- @Sturmvogel 66: You reckon? Hawkeye7 (discuss) 00:20, 2 July 2024 (UTC)
- For varying definitions of shortly
- Images appropriately licensed
- Academy standing excessive detail for the lede
- Deleted. Hawkeye7 (discuss) 21:50, 17 July 2024 (UTC)
- Link battleships and cruisers in the lede
- Marriage date of his parents is relevant how? And the names of his paternal grandparents?
- Deleted. Another editor thought details about ancestry relevant. Hawkeye7 (discuss) 21:50, 17 July 2024 (UTC)
- link flagship, armored cruiser, navigator
- Tell the reader that Halifax is a Canadian port
- Numbers of hours of class is excessive detail; the topics alone suffice
- I think that it is relevant. Not everybody knows how much training they received. Hawkeye7 (discuss) 21:50, 17 July 2024 (UTC)
- Almost nobody does, but you're getting too deep into the weeds here. Honestly the proper encyclopedic level of detail is that he graduated from X school with Z degree on Y date; the number of hours is really irrelevant as that was set by the school and would evolve as technology changed. If you were writing an article on the changes in aeronautical education by the USN over time, these would be useful, but not here. Just because you have the information available doesn't mean it's actually relevant to the man at our level of detail.--Sturmvogel 66 (talk) 22:44, 17 July 2024 (UTC)
- very well. Deleted. Hawkeye7 (discuss) 00:18, 18 July 2024 (UTC)

- McCain helped Alameda. What does this mean?
- Elaborated. Hawkeye7 (discuss) 00:18, 18 July 2024 (UTC)
- Fix the caption of McCain and his wife
- You should add that Clark remained aboard Hornet as an advisor to McCain until the TG resupplied at Manus at the end of September
- and refueling commenced at 07:24 what day in October, the 25th?
- Yes. Added. Hawkeye7 (discuss) 21:50, 17 July 2024 (UTC)
- Suggest that you add that Halsey and McCain ignored advice from their TG commanders to maneuver to avoid the typhoon in June
- The link for George Bryan goes to the wrong person
- Looks like the hydrographer doesn't have an article. Hawkeye7 (discuss) 21:50, 17 July 2024 (UTC)
- Fix the link to the University of Mississippi
- Most of the stuff about McCain's great-grandchildren is trivia.
- I wouldn't call it trivia, but I am not sure it belongs here. I would prefer if it was forked off into a separate article on the McCain family. Hawkeye7 (discuss) 21:50, 17 July 2024 (UTC)
- I also think that it would be better in an article on the entire family.--Sturmvogel 66 (talk) 22:44, 17 July 2024 (UTC)
- Moved it to its own article, McCain family. This becomes the main article of an existing category. Hawkeye7 (discuss) 00:18, 18 July 2024 (UTC)
