Marko Maksimović was born in Doboj, Republika Srpska, in Bosnia and Herzegovina.[1] His father, Rastko Maksimović, is a Serbian Orthodox priest.[2][3]

He began his career playing for Teniski Klub Doboj,[4] and currently trains at the Novak Djokovic Academy in Belgrade.[5][6] In 2022, he chose to compete under the Serbian flag, citing better career opportunities in Serbia.[7][8][9]

Junior career

[edit]

In October 2021, Maksimović won the U16 Tennis Europe Junior Masters in Monte Carlo.[10][11][12] En route to the title, he defeated second seed Petr Brunclík, third seed Jakub Jędrzejczak, and fourth seed Michal Krajčí.[13][14] In April 2022, he won the J5 Niš Open as the top seed, defeating second seed Stefan Skobelev in the final.[5]

In October 2023, he won back-to-back titles at the J100 Mostar Open and the J200 Viszlo Cup in Székesfehérvár.[15] In May 2024, he won both the singles and doubles titles at the J300 Torneo Internazionale Città di Santa Croce.[16]
